Apply for Cost-Share Support

Land managers seeking technical assistance through our free program may also apply for financial assistance to offset the expense of work conducted by a Certified Beaver Coexistence Professional.

Cost-share applications are accepted year-round with funding typically covering 50% of the project installation expense. Cost-share funds are for installations only and do not cover maintenance or follow-up.

Step-by-Step Guide to Financial Assistance

Apply for Free Technical Assistance

  • Start by filling out our Free Assistance Contact Form. Please take some time to describe your situation. The more detail you provide, the more informed our initial response will be.

Consultation and Site Assessment

  • Once we receive your request, we will provide you with free technical support through remote assistance from the Beaver Institute. If you would like to proceed with an additional free, in-person site assessment, you will work with a Certified Beaver Coexistence Professional through our BeaverCorps partner network.

Apply for Financial Assistance

  • Once a Certified Beaver Coexistence Professional conducts your personalized site assessment, creates a coexistence plan, and shares a cost estimate, you may choose to fill out the Cost-Share Assistance Application. Financial assistance decisions will be made within two weeks.
  • We typically supply a 50% match for time and/or materials. A landowner can help match costs by purchasing materials, paying for consultant time, or providing their own labor if the situation warrants it. If a landowner faces unique financial or physical challenges, they may be eligible to apply for a reduced landowner match amount.

Project Implementation

  • Then, once technical and financial assistance are secured and a Landowner Agreement Form is signed, onsite project implementation can begin! The landowner agreement form requires project monitoring allowance by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) for 10 years post-project. Typically, monitoring consists of one to two CDFW staff members visiting project sites once yearly to take photos.
